Steve Holmes is currently the Head of Landside Operations at the Port of Melbourne, Australia’s largest capital city container and general cargo port, handling more than one-third of the nation’s container trade. He holds direct accountability for the protective security and emergency management domains.
Steve brings extensive experience across operational security, investigations and intelligence, and risk management within highly regulated critical infrastructure sectors, including telecommunications, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), maritime transport, and financial services.
Prior to roles in transport and security, Steve’s experience includes 14 years with Victoria Police within the State Crime Squads and Intelligence functions.
He is a strong advocate for converged security operations and intelligence-led security programs, with a deep understanding of the strategic value of open-source intelligence (OSINT) in investigations, threat assessments, and delivery of protective security frameworks.
