Alex Joske

Alex Joske advises clients on national security and foreign interference risks at McGrathNicol. He studies Chinese influence operations and is the author of Spies and Lies: How China's Greatest Covert Operations Fooled the World. Previously, he was an analyst at the Australian Strategic Policy Institute, where his work focused on the Chinese Communist Party’s global influence and technology transfer efforts. His 2018 report “Picking Flowers, Making Honey” detailed an extensive Chinese military effort to place thousands of scientists in foreign universities to acquire cutting-edge expertise and technologies. He studied at the Australian National University and National Taiwan Normal University and is fluent in Chinese.
